Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 October 2026
Short version: without an account, nothing about you leaves your device. With an account, we keep your email and what you played, only to sync it between your devices. Analytics run only if you say yes.
Who we are
Playtime Tonight is run by Giogos (“we”, “us”), who is responsible for your data. Contact us at privacy@giogos.ch about anything in this policy.
Without an account
What you mark as played, what you love, and your settings are saved in your browser’s local storage on your own device. We can’t see them. Clearing your browser data deletes them.
With an account
- What: your email address (and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google), plus your play history: which ideas you played on which days and which ones you loved.
- Why: to sync your history between your devices. That’s the only use.
- Legal basis: providing the service you asked for (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- Where: Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Your history is stored in Google’s European Union data centres.
- How long: until you delete your account. “Delete account” (in the account menu) erases your history and your login straight away.
Analytics, only if you agree
If you tap “Accept”, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which buttons are used, for example how often an idea is played. This tells us which ideas families like. Google Analytics receives your device and browser type, approximate location (country and city), and the pages and buttons you use. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_…, kept for up to 13 months. We turned off advertising features and Google signals, and we never send your email or your play history to Google Analytics. Event-level data is deleted after 2 months.
Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the app.
What we store on your device
| Name | Type | Purpose | Needs consent? |
|---|---|---|---|
playtime-tonight:* | Local storage | Your history, loved ideas, settings (including your child’s age) and choices | No, needed for the app to work |
| Firebase sign-in data | IndexedDB | Keeps you signed in | No, only when you sign in |
_ga, _ga_… | Cookies | Google Analytics visit counting | Yes, only after “Accept” |
About your child
Playtime Tonight is for parents and carers. The only thing it asks about your child is their age, so it can pick ideas that fit. That setting stays on your device: it is never sent to us, saved in your account or shared with Google Analytics. We don’t ask for anything else about your child: no name, photo or other details. Please don’t let children create accounts.
Who processes your data
Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC provide hosting, sign-in, the database and analytics. Google may process some data outside the EU (for example in the USA) under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. When you load the site, Firebase Hosting briefly processes your IP address to deliver the pages (our legitimate interest in running the site, Article 6(1)(f)). We don’t sell your data and we don’t show ads.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing, or withdraw consent. Most of this you can do yourself: “Delete account” erases everything, and “Cookie settings” turns analytics off. For anything else, email privacy@giogos.ch and we’ll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top. For important changes we’ll tell you in the app.
