Beanbag balance
- Builds: Posture and balance
- 10 min
- Ages 4–6
- Calm
- No mess
From the house
- 4–5 socks
- Clear floor space
How to play
- Stuff a few socks into one sock and knot the end: that’s your beanbag.
- They stand tall, balance it on their head, and walk slowly across the room.
- Try other places: a shoulder, the back of a hand, the top of a foot.
- Race in slow motion: you both walk to the sofa with beanbags on your heads.
Fit it to your child
- Easier: Let them keep one hand on the beanbag at first, then let go for three steps.
- Harder: Balance it on their head while standing on one foot, and count out loud: can they get to ten?
Words to use
- balance
- tall
- steady
- slow
- wobble
- drop
Why it helps
To keep the beanbag on, they have to hold their head and back still and move smoothly, which builds posture and balance.
