- 10 min
- Ages 4–6
- Energetic
- No mess
From the house
- 3–4 rolled-up pairs of socks
How to play
- Stand two big steps apart, facing each other.
- Show them “ready hands”: palms up, fingers spread, like a bowl.
- Throw a sock underarm, slow and high, and say, “Watch it all the way in.”
- After three catches in a row, you both take one step back.
Fit it to your child
- Easier: Stand closer and let them trap it against their chest with both arms at first.
- Harder: Catch with one hand, clap once before catching, or throw it back to you overarm.
Words to use
- throw
- catch
- watch
- ready hands
- step back
Why it helps
Following the sock with their eyes and getting their hands there in time builds eye-hand coordination, and soft socks make a miss no big deal.
