Making & creating
Cup and box towers

- 10 min
- Ages 1–3
- Calm
- No mess
From the house
- Plastic cups, tubs or containers
- Empty boxes: cereal, tissue or shoe boxes
- A teddy
How to play
- Tip the cups and boxes onto the floor between you.
- Stack two, then three. Can they put one more on top?
- Count the tower together, then they knock it down. Crash!
- Build again with the big boxes at the bottom, and sit teddy on top.
Fit it to your child
- Easier: Stack two cups for them to knock over, then show them how the cups nest inside each other.
- Harder: Build two towers and lay a box across the top to make a gate for a toy car.

Why it helps
Setting one thing carefully on another trains steady hands, and they learn that big, flat pieces make a strong base.
