Moon walk
- Builds: Moving like an astronaut
- 10 min
- Ages 2–4
- Energetic
- No mess
From the house
- A few pairs of socks rolled into balls (moon rocks)
- A basket or bowl
- A big coat for a space suit (optional)
How to play
- Scatter the sock rocks, put on your pretend space suits, count down and blast off to the Moon.
- Take big, slow, bouncy steps: “The Moon pulls on us more gently than Earth does, so astronauts bounce.”
- Collect the moon rocks in super slow motion, dropping each one into the basket.
- Count down again and fly home to Earth, where you can walk at normal speed.
Fit it to your child
- Easier: Hold hands and bounce slowly together, saying “bounce… bounce…” with each step.
- Harder: Tell them that on the Moon they could jump much higher than at home, because its pull is about six times weaker than Earth’s.
Words to use
- astronaut
- Moon
- slow
- bounce
- rocks
Why it helps
Moving in slow motion takes real body control, and they learn that astronauts bounce on the Moon because it pulls more gently than Earth.
