Play ideas for 3-year-olds

Three-year-olds ask “why?” all day, count to five or ten, take turns and throw themselves into role play. Short games with one simple rule work well now.

  • Let them guess before you test: “Will it float?”
  • Play pretend together: shopkeeper, doctor or chef, with you as the customer.
  • Count real things: stairs, spoons, jumps.

Safety at 3: Small parts and food are still choking risks under 4: hand out small things a few at a time, sit with them, and put them away afterward.
